Over the last three months, several international events concerning Classical German Philosophy, and in particular Hegelʼs philosophy, have taken place in South America. At the beginning of October, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú hosted an international conference on Hegelʼs Philosophy of Right in Lima (the video gallery including all the talks presented at the conference can be found here: http://cef.pucp.edu.pe/agenda/dimensiones-de-la-libertad-sobre-la-actualidad-de-la-filosofia-del-derecho-de-hegel/#galeria); the VII Biannual Meeting of the Brazilian Hegel-Society also took place in October in S. Leopoldo, Brazil – the emphasis this year was on Hegelʼs Philosophy of History (the abstracts can be found here: http://congresso2013.hegelbrasil.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Caderno-de-Resumos.pdf); last but not least, the First Latin American Congress on Fichte was held in November in Valdivia, Chile (program here: http://www.europhilosophie.eu/recherche/spip.php?article637).
Another significant international event that further confirms the increasing interest in Classical German Philosophy in South America is the First German-Latin American Hegel Conference “Metaphysics – Critique of Metaphysics – New Foundation of Knowledge. Legacy of the Intellectual Development from Kant to Hegel”. This conference will take place in Buenos Aires, Centro Cultural Borges, from the 19th to the 21st of May 2014, and is organized by FILORED (the German-Latin American Research and Doctoral Network in Philosophy), a cooperative network of the Fernuniversität in Hagen, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (Buenos Aires), the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Chile).
In addition to the plenary sessions with invited keynote speakers, the organizers announced a call for papers.
For further information about the call for papers and the program of the conference see the previous post: https://www.hegelpd.it/hegel/call-for-papers-first-german-latin-american-hegel-conference.
