CFP: “WITTGENSTEIN AND CLASSICAL GERMAN PHILOSOPHY” (WARSAW, 1-3 SEPTEMBER, 2021)

We are glad to give notice that the call for papers for the workshop Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy is now open. The workshop will take place at the University of Warsaw between 1-3 September, 2021.

Organisation: Alexander Berg (University of Zürich) and Denys Kaidalov (University of Warsaw).

The deadline for abstracts submissions (ca. 300 words) is 15 June, 2021.

Below you can find the text of the call and the terms for submission.

The workshop aims to promote a modern philosophical dialogue capable of integrating the philosophical traditions that followed Hegel in the nineteenth century and Wittgenstein in the twentieth. Thus, the workshop takes up the threads of the conference Wittgenstein and Hegel – Reevaluation of Difference (TU Dresden, 2017) and the workshop Hegel and Wittgenstein – Negativity and Language (Charles University in Prague, 2019).
Within the framework of Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy, the thematic connection to the two previous events will be made, but at the same time, the opportunity will be taken to broaden the focus of discussion in the context of Classical German Philosophy to include the developments around Hegel in authors such as Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hamann, Herder and Schlegel, but also the developments directly following Hegel, such as Feuerbach, Marx, etc.
At the event in Prague 2019, we presented the anthology Wittgenstein and Hegel – Reevaluation of Difference, Mácha & Berg (eds.). In Warsaw, we plan to present the following anthology entitled Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy, Berg & Kaidalov (eds.).

We plan to hold the event in person, with the hope of a “new normal” after the vaccination campaign by September. The workshop itself will be held as a closed event in the given circumstances.

Abstracts (ca. 300 words) should be sent to Alexander.Berg75@icloud.com by June 15, 2021.
Abstracts should be prepared for double-blind review, we thus ask to remove any personal information from the abstract and kindly ask to send the author’s name, paper title, and affiliation in the body of the email.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by July 1, 2021.

The workshop will be guided by:
・Pirmin Stekeler-Weithofer (University of Leipzig)
・Hans-Johann Glock (University of Zürich)
・Richard Raatzsch (European Business School)
・Jakub Mácha (Masaryk University)
