CFP: Venice Graduate Conference in Philosophy (Venice, September 10-11, 2015)

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the Venice Graduate Conference in Philosophy, that will be held at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, on September 10-11, 2015. The topic will be “Idealism”. Below the text of the call.

Venice Graduate Conference in Philosophy

Call for papers

The Department of Philosophy at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice invites graduate students and philosophers who have defended their PhD within the last two years to submit papers on the topic of Idealism for its second graduate conference in philosophy, which will be held at Ca’ Foscari Main Building (Aula Baratto) on 10th-11th September 2015.

Papers should be prepared for blind review, should be no longer than 4500 words and should include an abstract of no more than 200 words.

8 submissions will be selected for presentation. Authors will have 45 minutes to present their papers. All talks will be followed by a 15 minutes comment and by a 30 minutes discussion session.

Some topics that might be discussed are:

– The origin of the theme: German Idealism

–  Idealistic perspectives in realism/anti-realism debate

–  Monism and logical idealism

–  Neo-pragmatism and idealism

–  Theories of recognition

–  Theory of agency and ethical idealism

–  Idealism, Critical Theory and “second nature”

Keynote speakers:
 Stephen Houlgate (University of Warwick), Karin De Boer (University of Leuven)

Deadline for submissions:  July, 20th 2015

Notification of acceptance: August,1st 2015

The refund of overnight accommodation is available for 4 students who submit their papers by 30th June, 2015. If you are interested, please specify it in your submission email.
